How it all began
Jai Jinendra
During the 1970’s, there were a handful of Jain families in Navi Mumbai. Despite the small numbers, it was the wish of all to have a community place where everyone could come together for cultural activities. In 1982, CIDCO started giving plots to religious groups. We immediately applied for Jain society and got a plot in Sector 9A Vashi.
A plot was allocated to us. Within a short span, amount of Rs.2.25 lakh was collected from Sthankawasi Jains, Murtipujak and Digambar Jains. After paying the amount to CIDCO, architect and contractor were hired to begun the construction work. The plot, located at the heart of Vashi next to the Bus Depot, brought Jains of all sects together.
Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Hasmukh bhai, President and Mr. Ashok Dangi, Secretary, the Sangh was registered and many religious activities were conducted.
- Charity work in the field of education, health and other sectors like drinking water dispensers, books for the poor, tree plantation drive, blood donation camps.
- Religious, cultural and social activities to increase awareness, enrich lives and to spread the message of Ahimsa and Satya.
NMMC acknowledged our efforts naming roads and chowks after our religious leaders.
Our strength has now grown from a handful few to more than 300 members. Despite the growing numbers, all stand united in our social cause. Now, more than ever, we are close to making our dream of an Oswal Bhavan a reality. With the blessings of Shri Sumatiprakashji Ma’sahab, Shri Vishalmuniji Ma’sahab and others of their group and of other Ma’sahab who conducted their Chaturmas here, we have purchased a plot. Work for design and construction of Bhavan has begun in earnest.
We thank all for the efforts taken so far and the efforts you are going to put in to make this dream a reality, to serve those around you and to further spread the message of Ahimsa and Satya
